Have we a multi purpose coating line ?

Or, can we use the same coating line to produce both OPP packing tape & PVC electric tape?

The answer is YES, but not good for operation.
Whoever spend a lot of money to invest a coating line, always expecting this line can be produce more different kinds of tape as possible. Unfortunately, due to different tape used different substrates and glues, has different requirement for end products, thus we suggest, it’s better to use a coating line for making- only 1 adhesive tape.

Usually we separate the substrates into 2 kinds – soft film and rigid film. The soft film like as PVC and PE; the rigid film like as OPP, PET, Paper and PI (Polyimide / Kapton), etc. Also, popularly the people use water or solvent Acrylic glue, solvent base Rubber glue, silicon glue and solvent base or solvent free silicon release agent, etc. for coating on these film. Also, the end product may in log roll, jumbo roll and sheet.

Thus, when some people insist to produce 3-4 kinds of tape by 1 coating line. Definitely, it may workable but not convenient for operation. A similar question – can we use a track to carry the people ? The answer is YES, but not comfortable.

When supply a coating line, we’ll consider (1) film (2) glues and (3) end products.

Hence, when use a PVC electric tape coating line to produce PE protection tape, we need solve 2 problem, (1) different unwinding & rewinding system and (2) need different coator for different glue. Definitely, we may set-up whole different system on one coating line, however, it’s not comfortable for operation, and PE protection tape will get quality issue if used water base glue, due to solvent vapor will be condensed in chamber, which will drop and spot solvent on surface of water base tape then damage the quality.
